Experimenting with Light

I have been doing lots more creative/experimental stuff than usual. I thought I would just post a little of what I have been doing lately. I have also joined the Photographics Society on campus which has been fun so far. It has pushed me to photograph things that I wouldn't think of photographing otherwise.

Baby Anne

I haven't done a newborn shoot in I don't know how long. Party because I don't own much lighting/studio equipment. But with newborns, all you need is a good window that lets in plenty of light. Not direct sunlight, but just diffused light. A north facing window is best.

Today we have little Anne as our subject. She can still be considered a newborn I suppose. If she would have been born on her due date, she would have been about 2 weeks old. Anne was born at 34 weeks (for those who don't know much about pregnancy, a full term baby is approx 40 weeks). Because her mom was on bed rest for more than 2 months, the baby got a chance to grow more rapidly than most babies- that is why she looks good for her gestational age.

Anyhow, Anne was pretty alert the whole entire time. She was not a big fan of lounging around without a diaper, and she didn't like to be moved and positioned- so we kept positioning at a minimum. Our time had to be cut short, and we couldn't try very many poses, but regardless it went pretty well. I think she is such a little cutie. Congrats Reggie and Belinda for your beautiful baby girl!
